Let Freedom Ring!

I love our flag.

When we were in Washington D.C. last year, we visited the National Museum of American History (one of my favorite museums in the Smithsonian). My favorite exhibit was the flag that inspired the Star-Spangled Banner. We actually had to cut the time short because I became a bit emotional and I think I was embarrassing LaVor.

They have the flag completely sprawled out, lit only with a black light. Unfortunately, we were not able to take pictures but you can view it here.

They had the national anthem playing in the background while the words appeared on the wall, above the flag.

I remember the opportunity I had to visit Fort McHenry in 1995. I believe I still have my souvenir whistle...somewhere around here. I wish I had the love for our flag that I have now, back then, because I think I would have appreciated that visit much more.

After viewing several episodes of America The Story of Us, I have no doubt in my mind that the Lord had his hand in the development of this country. He put the right people on this earth at the right time to establish, build-up, invent and protect this great land.

I am eternally grateful for our freedoms and the blessings we receive from living in the United States of America. The flag reminds me of that each time it waves.

Dig & Bury

A year ago today, we were feeding Gushers to the Capitol squirrels.

One in particular would take the Gusher, dig a hole, look both ways to make sure none of the other squirrels were watching, bury the Gusher and cover it up with dirt. Smart little fella.

Appetizing

Last weekend, our ward had a BBQ and LaVor was in charge of preparing the meat. He placed his order Friday morning and went to pick it up Saturday. I got a call at 10:00, saying they'd given his order to someone else. Thankfully, they had what he needed, just not prepared. He said to get ready and he'd be by to pick The Lime and me up soon.

We headed over to the church and started trimming the fat off the tri-tip and halving the chickens. According to LaVor, I should have become a butcher...I was doing a great job. We joked that my sister would have a heart attack, had she been there with us. Raw meat & blood everywhere! LaVor suggested I take a picture and send it to her. I declined.

I did take a picture of the box the chicken came in...
At least it was fresh.

How It All Began

Thanks Lime, for making LaVor a Daddy.

We started the day off with crepes and opening gifts. The Lime even left a very sweet note for LaVor.

He insisted on wearing his very special "Dad" shirt.

We had a joint celebration tonight at the McMurray's which included Will's 4th birthday as well as Father's Day for 4 dads, 2 of them celebrating their 1st.

Tally Mark 5

-He rolls ALL over the place. The most used phrase in our house? "How'd you get there?!"
-His legs are starting to get chunky and he's got bustees (what my parents used to call baby boobs).
-He's licked a plain ice cream cone, Cheez-It, apple, nectarine and...french fry (without Mommy's permission) but is still only drinking milk.
-If you put it in front of his mouth, he'll try to eat it, no matter what.
-His new favorite toy? Our unused remote control.
-He sleeps on his stomach.
-He went through a funk at about 4.5 months where he didn't want to go to sleep until after midnight. Thankfully he's back to our sweet Lime.
-He still spits up like it's going out of style.
-We swear he said "Mama" last week.
-He pees during the first 30 seconds of his bath...every time.

♥ He's our #1 HUNK and is the best thing that has happened to our little family ♥

Stealing Ideas

I can't post any pictures of this idea, since I came across it while blogstalking and I don't want to get caught!

But I do need to say, "Oh my goodness!" The cutest idea for a 1st birthday...well, ANY birthday, EVER!

I don't want the Lime to grow up at all but after seeing this idea, I can't wait for birthdays!
If you want to see the idea, let me know and I'll send you a link!

P.S. - LaVor just walked by and laughed at me. I mouth the words as I type them. And...I was getting excited just thinking about this post so my shoulders are raised and my face is like this

My bottom lip is crooked. That bothers me.
