You Are Special

The first time I was introduced to this book was my last year at Girls Camp. We did a skit of the story that ended up being more of a comedy. The girl who played Punchinello was A.M.A.Z.I.N.G! Normally a very shy girl but she came out of her shell that night. It was great.

I found a packet of colored stickers in our desk drawer the other day and was once again reminded of this book.

Whether he has gold stars or gray (or blue) dots on him, we love The Lime just the same. He's one special dude in our book.

Tally Mark 17

-Loves playing in the dirt.
-Has 2.5 more baby teeth to come in.
-Got a slight black eye this week. I think he bonked on the corner of our old computer monitor.
-Makes me kiss his Mickey Mouse toy every night before he goes to sleep.
-Loves babies and still loves dogs.
-Loves smoothies and doesn't seem to notice that I sneak spinach into them.
-Copies his cousin and calls his other cousin "Yaya".
-Loves to dance with a dancing monkey that sings, "I Know You Want Me".
-Loves to sing with Britney Spears when she says, "Oh oh oh oh oh oh".
-Knows that Daddy works on tractors.
-Likes to watch us while we cook.
-Loves wallets.
-I was in the kitchen the other day and hadn't heard him for a while. I started calling his name and didn't get a response. I then turned the corner into the living room and there he was, sitting on the ground, reading a book to himself. So cute.
-Has no fear.
-Is a little terror but we love him nonetheless.

Weiner Resemblance

If Bob Saget
and Beavis had a child...
they'd get a Weiner.

I'd like to thank my 61 year old Pop, for pointing out the Beavis resemblance.

White Trash Swimming - Year 2

After swimming with my sister and her baby girl today, The Lime and I came home to a sweltering house.

LaVor was outside, tending to his garden and decided to turn the sprinklers on.

You can guess what happened next.

It's no wonder The Lime loves hoses now. Hoses = fun.

If Heaven Isn't What It's Cracked Up To Be

Send me back to Gimmelwald.

Last night, LaVor taped an episode of Rick Steves' Europe and he just happened to be in Gimmelwald. We took a trip down memory lane.

Our time in Gimmelwald started off at the gondola's, where we had a man chew us out in German. We needed to get something from the car so Jason and Julie went ahead and got in line for the gondola tickets. Just a few moments later, we met up with them and it took no time for the man behind us to say, "Sprechen Sie Deutsch?" I responded with, "Nur ein bisschen." Next thing I knew, the man was clearly upset with us for some reason that I couldn't understand. I think I maybe caught 2 words from his spiel. Thank goodness our nephew was with us and could translate. Jacob sweetly told us that the man was mad because we cut in front of him and needed to go to the back of the line. I simply said, "Es tut mir leid" and we continued waiting where we were.

We loved all the greenery, the views, the warmth of the sun (especially because we froze our buns off earlier in the day) and these cute gnomes.

Rick Steves visited a home with a similar display of cowbells and quite possibly the same water fountain. Probably not, though.

We had dahlias in our front yard growing up. They were even red. But for some reason, these seem 10x more beautiful. Probably because they were in Gimmelwald.

Sitting, Waiting, Wishing

4:00 couldn't come fast enough. At about 2:30, The Lime climbed onto a chair and sat at the window, asking for, "Dada?". Any noise he heard outside, he thought it was LaVor. Unfortunately, none of the noises were him. But The Lime did get a nice surprise when he got up from his nap.

Familiar Scene?

I don't like that The Lime already knows how to sorta work the iTouch.

But I do like that his favorite app is a piano one. He loves pianos. And I hope he'll be able to put those long fingers to good use and not just use them for nose picking or eye poking.

What He Looks Like

When he's waiting for Papa to get on Skype.

When he says his name.

When he gets into a box of doll clothes.

And not his doll clothes but a future sister's doll clothes. If we ever have a girl.

Praise to the Man

For the month of May, the song we were learning in Primary was "Praise to the Man". I always love when we teach the kids Hymns. It's nice to teach something new (they really could re-do the Primary Songbook, don't you think?) and I remember being a kid and getting excited when I recognized a song in Sacrament Meeting that we had learned in Primary.

While I'm at my sister's house, I've noticed I sing more, especially Primary songs. The kids and I were out today, getting our free doughnuts at Krispy Kreme, and I started singing. My nephew covered his ears and told me to sing the song about the Lord. Um...which one? "You know...the things the Lord tells us to do." I racked my brain trying to find a lyric that matched his. "Nephi's Courage," I asked? That was the one. So I started singing and he joined me for the chorus.

When we got home, he asked me what the words were to the 4th verse of "Praise to the Man"? I knew bits and pieces so I looked up the lyrics online. This video popped up in my search results...

He sat there, holding my iTouch, watching the video and was singing along. It was so sweet. There are very few things in this world that are more precious than a little child singing Hymns.
