Mean Auntie Popie

When I got to Kari's house yesterday, Will had just woken up and still had his binky in his mouth. I took it out so he could tell me something and wouldn't let him have it back. Kari & Alex are trying to only let him use it when he sleeps.

The cute kid that he is, he tries to sneak it back in his mouth. Once he gets it in his mouth, he looks at me like, "I wonder how long until she notices". I notice and pull the thing back out.

After one of our "sneak" games, he goes up to Kari and said, "Popie said 'NO!' No more dubby!". My 2 year old nephew tattled on me! Kari and I couldn't help but burst into laughter. He mentioned it a few more times before Kari left for work and the second she walked in last night, he said, "Popie said 'NO!'". Seriously, how did the kid remember THAT after we went to Target, saw the BART train, watched episode after episode of "Max & Ruby", picked Claire up from school, went to the ice creamery? I talked to Kari today and she said he was still bringing it up last night.

He's hilarious and I love him...dubby and all.

Growths or accessories?

While doing my routine blog stalking...well, not stalking, more "browsing", I've noticed a trend. And it's a weird one.


Is this cute to anyone? And no, not the chunky baby, but the darn flower on her head! Is she supposed to be a miner looking for gems? Because it reminds me of this...

Headbands are great! Heck, I still wear them. But are flowers that are bigger than your kids head really necessary?

I resembled a 4 year old boy

When Claire's friend, Prajed (sp), came by to play with her this afternoon, I noticed the shirt he was wearing. A blue polo with red and yellow horizontal stripes. I actually thought it was a shirt I once owned.

(It had to be cropped. I was apparently trying to grow out my bangs, had curled my hair some funky way and used some eye make-up that made me look ill. Nothing good about that picture.
And yes, I don't have a chest. Not sure the "hunched" look helped any.)

When I was little, I re-named myself "Danny" and wanted to be a boy (thank goodness that phase passed). Apparently that phase didn't end as quickly as I thought. Seeing Prajed in his shirt made me realize that while in high school, I dressed like a 4 year old boy.

I spent most of my shopping time at thrift stores, which I have nothing against. I still have several items that I bought years ago. I just don't think shopping in the little boys section AT thrift stores is the coolest.

Thank goodness I've accepted the name "Kimberly" and have found some sense of style, in the girls departments.

Passionately Pink!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and I'm SO excited to get the word out and help in any way I can to end the fight.

A woman who has treated me like one of her daughters was diagnosed yesterday with stage 3 breast cancer. As most of you know by my posts regarding the breast cancer walk in July, until this point, I hadn't had anyone close to me have to face the challenges this disease brings. She's strong, her family is strong and her faith is unbreakable. I know she'll come out on top. LaVor's mom made a moving statement to me tonight. She said, "If she's as special as she sounds, perhaps Heavenly Father wants to bring her home".

My sisters, Mom and I have marked October 18th as our day to help end this disease. I invite you to visit the link The Jibbley Girls and pass the word around. We really want to try and get as many people involved as we can. The more people that know about the cause, the closer we are to finding a cure.

Now Let Us Rejoice!

Last night, I had the wonderful opportunity of attending the General Relief Society meeting with my mom. We missed Amy & Kari who had previous commitments.

President Beck was enjoyable as were both of her counselors, Sister Allred and Sister Thompson. But the ultimate treat was hearing President Uchtdorf speak. What a wonderful, "real" man that we have to guide us and uplift our Spirits.

While the congregation stood to sing the hymn, "Now Let Us Rejoice", I was overcome by the Spirit. Knowing that the thousands of women in the Conference Center and those scattered all across the world were all part of this wonderful organization, for some reason, moved me. I've never been a huge fan of Relief Society but last night, I was appreciative and proud to be involved.

It was also confirmed to me that I am a daughter of our Heavenly Father. He loves me, knows me, is there for me and wants me to return to Him.

Growing up, I had a hard time believing that. It was constantly told to us in Primary and Young Women but I felt as if they had to tell us that. I had an experience when I was 12 that affected the way I viewed myself and how I thought others viewed me. Several years later (like within the last 5 years, I'd say), my sister and I were talking about something when that experience came up. She asked why I was still letting it bother me. I didn't have an answer but I could see where she was going with it and she was right. I had the choice to either dwell on it forever or learn from it and use it to better myself.

Within the last year and a half, I've really come to know its truth. Working with the young women in our ward has strengthened my testimony of the love our Heavenly Father has for us. And hearing the words last night from a true Messenger of God bore witness to me that His plan is real. He's real. Jesus Christ suffered for us so that we may return to Heavenly Father when our time on earth is over. How grateful I am for that knowledge.

Walk & Stroll

Today Will and I got to join Amy at her Heart Walk around Lake Merritt. Her company, as well as many other health care providers, participated in the 3.25 mile walk.

We enjoyed catching up about things while Will chatted to himself in the stroller. It was a lovely day and the scenery was beautiful. It was also my first time at Lake Merritt. Amazing how many things you don't see after 24 years in the Bay Area.

It's always a neat experience to walk for a good cause. And to spend time with your sister.

Short hair is WAY more economical

I did it! I finally chopped it all off and it feels great! A big thank you to Shauna for making me look like Lisa Garza :o)

My showers are shorter, the drying time is shorter, I'm saving money and helping mother nature all at the same time.

This post will have to be a teaser until I can take a cute picture of myself and trim my bangs.
