We're Celebrating...

Our 100th post about Disneyland! Woo hoo!

My parents invited us to join them this past weekend. They were going down for my Mom's birthday, since she was able to get in for free.

We started the day off with a few clouds but according to weather.com, it wasn't supposed to rain. Liars!

As we were on the tram from the parking garage to the park, it began to pour. Although I had brought an umbrella in my suitcase, I didn't think I'd need it at the park. Thankfully, my mom had brought hers (and it was big enough to fit all of us). We took our time eating our beignets and then strolled through the shops in downtown Disney, while the rain passed over us. We then stood in line to get our tickets and the rain tapered off, soon was gone and we never saw it again. Hallelujah!

Do you know the way to San Jose? La la la la la. That's the song that was playing as we entered California Adventure.

I was hoping to get a good picture of us. Still hoping.

I had stepped away for a minute to take some pictures and when I came back, all 3 were tapping their feet to the music playing around the park.

I take my shooting seriously.

Next trip? LaVor's birthday is in a month and mine is in 2. We'll see.

I once was blind but now I see

Yippee! Things aren't blurry anymore! I've always wanted glasses and finally, my eyes got bad enough that I needed them!

Don't Screw It Up!

As some of you may know, since it's made national news...unfortunately, there have been protests ending in riots in Oakland. It all began after a BART police officer shot and killed a man early New Years day.

The officer was finally arrested and is being held at Santa Rita jail. So why are the protests continuing? I'd love to be able to find that answer. And I would especially like to know why people feel the need (or want) to vandalize innocent businesses and personal property. Protest violence with...violence? Interesting.

What concerns me is that Social Distortion is playing in Oakland on February 6th and the venue it will be held at was a victim to the vandalism last week. Let us keep our fingers crossed that things will settle down over the next 2 weeks. For more reasons than one. I'm not completely selfish.

Failed!

I've been begging LaVor to take a family (me & him) picture for a while now and he kept putting it off. I finally got him to agree to this afternoon.

So off we headed to his grandparents backyard after lunch. We got the camera set up, us positioned and off I went, taking pictures.

After about 15 minutes, I noticed the camera said, "No CF card". You've got to be kidding me. I had just deleted several pictures from it before we left. I remembered to grab the freshly charged battery but I forgot the memory card. We have several cards so I was hoping there was an extra one in the camera case. Nope. Nothing.

Needless to say, I'm disappointed.

Thanks For The Example

As I was sitting on the stand at church today, waiting to give my talk (thank goodness that's over), I noticed how many couples don't sit together.

Growing up, my parents always sat next to each other yet still had all 5 of us under control. They decided early on in their marriage that they'd always sit next to each other, whether it be at church, at the dinner table, at a school performance or sporting event.

So I've decided, as of January 11, 2009, that I am always going to sit next to LaVor, wherever we may be.

This is the true story...

...of seven strangers, picked to live in a house, and have their lives taped, to find out what happens when people stop being polite, and start getting real. The Real World ________ (fill in city).

I'm a Real World fan, I'll admit it. It all began in New York, with Eric, Norman, Andre, Kevin, Becky, Heather & Julie.

MTV wasn't something my parents wanted us kids to watch. So what did we do? We would all pile onto my parents bed and watch the Real World in their room, with the door closed. When we heard them walking down the hall, we'd quickly change the channel. When they'd leave, right back to the trash.

Some seasons have been worse than others (i.e. Las Vegas) but for some reason, I just can't get away from it.

I'd be interested in a Real World Scene It? game. Until then, I'll enjoy the upcoming season in Brooklyn.

Last night was the first episode of the Brooklyn season. We have a Mormon from Salt Lake, a non-Mormon from Salt Lake, a Veteran from Gettysburg, a used-to-be lesbian from SF, a gymaholic from Massachusetts, a pageant queen from Kansas City, a dolphin trainer from Miami and a girl that used to be a boy from West Palm Beach. Yes folks, you counted correctly...there's 8 roommates this season.

Their house reminds me a lot of the home in Seattle (also another favorite season of mine). Of course, outrageously huge but has a view of the Statue of Liberty.

From the looks of it, it's going to be a good season. And we'll all be crossing our fingers that Chet (the LDS kid) doesn't pull a Julie on us.

You Can't Buy An Alcoholic Drink

I had to buy wine today for my fondue recipe. My first time ever buying an alcoholic drink. And I wasn't carded! 2 years ago, I was asked if I wanted a kids menu at Disneyland (12 years and under). Have I aged 9 years in that amount of time?! I was actually looking forward to having to show my I.D..

Now, I ask myself...do I e-mail Safeway and tell them that Maureen doesn't check I.D.'s when people buy alcohol? I'm tempted to...to see if they send me something.
