One Bad Apple Ruins The Bunch

During a break in the rain tonight, I was able to do a little fundraising. The street traffic is obviously down when it's wet outside but there were still several cars out as it was commute time.

I had only been out about 5 minutes when a woman rode by on her bike and yelled, "THAT'S OFFENSIVE!!!" I told her I was sorry but she repeated again, "THAT'S REALLY OFFENSIVE!" I can only assume she meant the side of my sign that said, "Like boobs? Donate to the Avon Walk!" The other side reads, "Donate $1 to fight breast cancer!"

My initial reaction was sadness. I didn't make my sign to offend anyone or poke fun at breast cancer. But then I got mad. Out of the hundreds of smiles, thumbs ups, words of encouragement, I get this one grouch that yells at me! Then...I got scared. What if she came back and tried to destroy my sign?!

About 10 minutes later, a car drove by with their donation hanging out the window. I waited for traffic to stop, ran across the street to collect it and ran back to my staging area. As I was running back, I saw a police officer in the line of cars. Whoops! I always get nervous when I see the police because I don't know if I'm breaking any laws. Sure enough, he pulls up next to me and rolls down his window. "Did a woman pass by here earlier?" he asked. I told him what happened and he said she had called them because of my offensive sign. He told me his wife participated in the walk a few years ago, found nothing wrong with my sign, wished me luck and told me to have a good night.

I could feel my knees shake as he spoke to me. The only trouble I've ever been in was in the 5th grade when I got my name on the board! Needless to say, I was relieved when he found nothing wrong with my actions.

TMI

I think people have an issue with posting too much information online.

Being the blogstalker that I am, I view strangers private information all the time. Creepy, eh? But if I'm doing it, who else is? They may not all be as cute and innocent as I am. Not to mention, there's just some stuff that the public doesn't need to know.

I cringe when I see the following things:
-Posting middle and last names, birthdays, specific locations of where you live, work, go to school.
-Self portraits of people kissing.
-Announcing vacations, where you're going, how long you'll be gone.
-Anything related to what goes on inside of the Temple.
-People leaving their physical address in your comments section/Facebook wall!!!!
-Mentioning anything about your sex life.
-Posting pictures of the outside/inside of your home.
-Personal information that only you, Heavenly Father and possibly your Bishop should know about.

Did you ever hear that story of the woman who posted on her Facebook that she was going out of town and came back to a ransacked house? One of her "friends" broke in while she was gone. Hence why we have a mere 77 friends. I can keep track of every.one.of.you.

Am I going private with our blog? Absolutely not. Bill the Barber can look at my blog for all I care. Just gotta be smart and safe.

We've Got To Pray Just To Make It Today

I remember how excited and pleased we were when The Lime folded his arms for the first time. LaVor and I aren't the best about saying prayers as often as we should, but we did it enough for The Lime to catch on.

Yesterday was a hard day for us and especially our dear friends. A great woman returned home to our Heavenly Father because her calling on earth was complete. We were able to visit with the family last night and be part of their family prayer. While everyone gathered in the kitchen, I was changing The Lime's diaper in the family room. I was secretly glad that I was alone so I could cry without anyone seeing me. The kids calmed down and the chit chat amongst the adults halted while one of the sons said the sweetest prayer. The Lime didn't catch on to what was happening until we all said, "Amen" and then he folded his arms.

Later on, I went to my sister's house to pick up her extra car that I'm borrowing while mine is being worked on. She hadn't driven her car in a while so when I went to start it, it wouldn't crank over. No problem...I'll pump the gas and try it again. Whoops! Didn't work. After about 10 minutes of trying with no success, my sister, niece and I said a prayer. We tried to start the car again and you could tell it wanted to start SO bad but it just couldn't. After 2 more attempts, it finally fired. Another prayer was said, thanking Heavenly Father for answering our first one.

We're so blessed to have a Father in Heaven that loves us, hears us and helps us especially in times of need.

Ich bin ein Berliner

I love jelly doughnuts but I would never consider myself one, JFK.

I had one of my crazy dreams last night and it took place in one of my favorite cities...
Berlin.

The one thing I didn't like about Europe was having to pay to go to the bathroom. And that's how my dream started out.

There wasn't just a line for the bathroom, there was an entire waiting area. And how did they sort everyone? Not by male and female but by shoe size.

I sat next to a girl and asked, "Wie viel kostet die toilette?" She replied (not in English or German) and I soon recognized her. Azita, a girl I went to middle school with. I swatted her leg and said, "You don't have speak to me in that language! We can speak English!"

After waiting for the shoe sizes ahead of us to go, it was our turn. We had to get in line and march into the bathroom. The principal from Kindergarten Cop was the woman in charge of keeping order. And who was in front of me in line? Brik from The Middle.

The bathroom ended up being a huge room with stalls lining the walls. The only problem was that my door wouldn't close properly and the toilets were so low to the ground, you had to sit Indian style. Nobody could leave the bathroom until everyone was finished. Of course, I was the one that made everyone wait. My pipes tend to not work while on vacation.

I woke up as we were leaving the restroom, sad that my dream was over but relieved that I could actually go to the bathroom...on a normal toilet.

This Little Piggy

I hate feet. Everything about them. Blech!

But I can't resist these toesies...I do love how tiny they are.

And how he always crosses them when he's in his high chair.

Your Special Day

I'm an a idiot and didn't realize that the memory card wasn't in the camera until LaVor was almost done opening his presents. Way to go, Kimberly. The Lime looks that way because he's sick. LaVor looks that way because...I don't have a reason.

We enjoyed the day together, as planned, but we weren't planning on spending 4 hours at home, while The Lime took a much needed nap, and then heading to the Doctor to get the little guy checked out.

On the way home, LaVor made the executive decision that we needed a treat. You woulda thought it was my birthday by how surprised and happy I was when we pulled into the Rite Aid parking lot. Rite Aid, you say? Yes...because they have Thrifty's ice cream. Chocolate malted crunch to be exact.

The next big event of the day? Going to Target. And then Chili's for dinner.

Birthdays change when you have kids. And that's OK.

We Have A Problem

My dad would bite us growing up, therefore, I bite The Lime. Which then means, he bites. Except he doesn't know how to play bite. He...bites. Hence why I got him this shirt.

He and my niece love each other and they love to give each other hugs. I had to go to the bathroom on Thursday (hard to believe, I know!) and I left the door open so I could keep an eye on the babies. The Lime was in the saucer (because he fell off the 4th stair earlier in the day so I had to keep him contained) and my niece was right next to him, giving him hugs. The Lime was reciprocating the gesture and then I saw it...his mouth started to open and he was heading towards her head. Next thing I know...she pauses for a second and then erupts into tears. I tried to get her to come to me...in the bathroom...but she wasn't having it. Thank goodness for my 4 year old nephew who took her hand and softly said, "It's okay, Googie!" as he brought her to me. Sorry Kari, but as I sat on the toilet, I lifted her onto my lap so I could comfort her. Thank goodness The Monster Lime didn't break the skin but clearly, it hurt her.

I'm not looking forward to Nursery.
